St Giles offers a warm, friendly greeting - Everyone is welcome.
Sunday morning services at 8.00am and 9.30am focus upon the Eucharist, also called Holy Communion or Lord’s Supper. The service focuses on  Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, his closest friends and followers, at which he gave them bread with the words, “This is my body,” and wine with the words, “This is my blood.” The story of the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus on the night before his Crucifixion is reported in four books of the New Testament.
The Eucharist is a central rite of Christian worship. Christians remember that, by eating bread and drinking wine, the church recalls what Jesus Christ was, said, and did. Participation in the Eucharist enhances and deepens the communion of believers not only with Christ but also with one another.

Our 8.00am service is said, whilst the 9.30am has singing of hymns and music is played before the service, as people are arriving. On occasions the ‘Eucharist’ is sung and the congregation join in various responses.
After the service people meet together for tea, coffee, conversation and fellowship. This takes place in the Fellowship room and items can be purchased from our Fairtrade stall.

Without diminishing the importance of the Eucharist, St Giles also offers a variety of worship.
On special and specific Sundays throughout the year there are services to mark the seasons of Pentecost and Trinity, Advent Sunday and special services of light.
Christmas has been celebrated by hosting children and family services; Midnight Mass, Christingle and Nativity/ Crib services, Epiphany and Candlemas as we mark the end of the season.
Services embrace climate change, inclusiveness and racial awareness.
St Giles embraces various styles of worship and liturgies:- healing services, different styles and ways of praying, more reflective and quieter worship as can be found in Iona and Taize worship.
The variety of these different services that enrich the pattern of worship offered by St Giles also enriches and enlivens those who participate.

For more information on other styles of worship please continue to look at our Worship pages.
